Disinfecting

We use CDC approved and EPA registered industrial-strength disinfectants with a broad spectrum kill claim

Whilst the overall objective of the disinfecting process is to sterilize the facility for Cov 19 we are additionally sterilizing the facility for microbial infection such as bacteria fungi mold.

In disinfecting this facility, we will generally use 3 type of disinfectant

  1. Quaternary Ammonium Compound
  1. Phenol Based
  1. Hydrogen Peroxide Based

All three anti-bacterial are EPA registered and certified as effective in treating COV 19. Whilst most companies would only use one product, we at Shore Remediation recognize that each category of disinfectant can be more effective in different environments.

For instance, in overall spraying of the facility we will use quaternary Ammonium based product Shockwave produced by Fiberlock and Anasphere plus.

Both contains NH4+ which gives the product a strong positive charge and is highly effective in using with the electrostatic sprayer. As they will envelope and bind to the negatively charged formite surface. Please review attached document describing application by electrostatic sprayer.

For the walls and floors, we will use a hospitable based phenol disinfectant Mediclean and apply using an oxygenated application system.

For the bathroom we will use a stronger disinfectant a hydrogen peroxide disinfectant fiberlock IASQ1000 ..The hydrogen peroxide has a good broad spectrum as bacterial, viricidal, sporicidal, and fungicidial as it possesses hydroxyl free radicals that act on the cell membrane lipids, DNA, and other essential cell compounds.

Application Systems.

In applying the disinfectants, we avail of the most technological and effective chemical dispensing systems which are registered with the EPA.

  1. Victory Electrostatic Sprayer – positively charges the chemical so it binds to the formite surface. Additionally, given the chemical is applied as a vapor it applies a uniform coating on the surface
  1. Oxidizing Application. – useful in application of hydrogen peroxide agent
  1. Dry fogging

Many operators especially the cleaning companies who have no experience or equipment to provide professional remediation services are now offering disinfecting services. Unfortunately, not wanting to paint all operators with the same brush many are in effect causing serious cross contamination or only partially disinfecting the surfaces and therefore giving the owner of the facility a false sense of security

Not only do they not understand or even study the chemistry let alone application of the disinfectant they apply, they simply apply with a spray bottle and immediately wipe with a cloth used on multiple surfaces which in effect renders the disinfectant useless   not having  the optimum dwell time and kill ratio but also cross contaminating.

Most operators either due to ignorance or pure lack of care do know research and completely lack the ability to understand the difference between sanitization, disinfecting, and sterilizing. They lack the knowledge and expertise that sanitization must be completed prior to disinfecting and that the cleaning removal of contaminants is an integral part of the process. Generally due to lack of research they clean as they have always clean
