Remediation & Disinfecting Coronavirus Procedures

After an initial assessment, we first implement contamination control protocols to ensure any affected areas are secure and separated from non-affected areas so there is no cross contamination during any clean up. We consult with the CDC continually for most current CDC and EPA approved disinfectants needed to contain and control the Coronavirus (COVID-19) since it is still novel.

COVID-19 cleanup and sanitization includes cleaning, disinfecting, and properly disposing of all infected materials, and wipe down with CDC and EPA approved industrial-strength disinfectants have a broad spectrum to kill viruses, bacteria & pathogens, adhering to stringent coronavirus demobilization process for equipment, trucks, and waste storage areas.

  • All industrial-strength disinfectants have a broad spectrum kill which are both CDC and EPA approved.
  • Proper cleaning, disinfection, and disposal of all infected materials
  • Team members use fully encapsulated in personal protective gear, which includes full-face respirator masks

Cleaning – Sanitizing – removal of organic material

Prior to disinfecting which we will reference later we first of all complete a deep clean of all surfaces not limited to high touch surfaces but additionally including desks doors walls etc. with a deep emulsifying detergent cleaner so as to dissolve and remove all organic material that not only would

  • Impact the effectiveness of the antibacterial in neutralizing the microbes and viral content. If the surface has a significant amount of organic material this can create a barrier around the bacteria or virus preventing the antibacterial rending it inert by destroying the membrane wall of the bacteria or the lipid fatting outer layer of the virus.
  • Limit cross contamination

The deep clean is an essential factor in the process of sanitizing – disinfecting –sterilizing. Most facilities have significant layer of organic material not visible. Therefore prior to it is imperative that we must remove all contaminated material. This is in effect the sanitizing stage and is an integral and the most time consuming part of the project as it lays the foundation for the disinfecting, if not done properly this will have a negative impact on the overall success of the project.

Please remember the quote from Dr. Perry -Cleaning is the removing of organic material. So, in the cleaning process we must be extremely careful in not just solely wiping which may just spread the contaminants but remove. A good emulsifying detergent cleaner is especially important as it breaks down the organic material making it easier to remove, and therefore providing a clean surface for application of the antibacterial and anti-microbial cleaner.

Please let it be understood that while a surface may appear to be clean having being wiped down in fact the surface may still be dirty in fact contaminated as the cleaner may simply have caused significant cross contamination. To be honest it is not uncommon for a cleaning personnel to clean a bathroom with a cloth and use that same cloth in other parts of the facility in effect cross contaminating multiple areas.

At Shore Remediation we fully follow the principle of cleaning being a matter of removing organic material, by using the correct cleaners’ equipment and constantly changing microfiber cloths we prevent cross contamination.

We take the quality of our sanitizing extremely serious so much so prior to beginning the disinfecting stage we scientifically verify the cleanliness of the facility by completing ATP swab tests and air quality testing, and only upon positive results that we move onto to the next stage

Please note a completely clean surface is essential if we intend to apply a probiotic antimicrobial agent that will offer 30 days protection upon completion of disinfecting
